they are pipes, that are used by several KDE apps to communicate between
each other. I guess you can set $TMP to some other place or patch the
source if you don't want them in /tmp.

I have a cron job that cleans /tmp each night and after each boot, so I
don't care. For my "temp" activities, I also have a /usertemp partition
where only files not owned by root, older than 14 days are auto-deleted.
