kde.org is consistent in *not* specifying dates more than a week or two
ahead of time. the wisdom in this was demonstrated last week with the
insertion of new kio and khtml and other things, to which all the apps
needed to be ported (a tremendous advance, by the way). i believe
there's hope for 1.90, which is to be an api freeze version, by the end
of march. a guess for kde2 to be released would be -- and i'm guessing
here, based on the speed at which things seem to be ticking along --
would be a month either side of 1 june.
that having been said, i've been using kde2 exclusively since november.
it has, of course, gotten better and better. some things still don't
work, but most things work to a greater or lesser extent. but it's
quite possible to do productive work in kde2 right now, if one is
willing to understand that it is developmental software, so some things
will not work in the way they will when it's all done.
