An alternative very nearly available is Opera.  The Linux port is almost
finished.  For most browsing needs, it's just as good as I.E., although it
does lack the ability to do all the JavaScript, it does some though.

Another alternative web browser is Arachne.  This can be run under DOSEMU,
and a port to linux native is on the way.
