A long time ago on a unix system i was able to redefine the '[' key to
mean backspace. reaching clear up to the right for the real backspace
key gets annoying for people with even medium sized hands. now I'm born
again and naive in unix and can't recall what i did. it was simple
though, involved chmod i think to make something exacutable.

also, i don't recall whether '[' worked as backspace throughout the
system, in the word processors etc, or just in the terminal. i'd like
it be be global. anybody have thoughts? thanks a lot. tom
