Gah!! I am going nuts trying to work this out.
I have recently reinstalled RH 6.0 on my box and
have been upgrading to the latest 6.1 since.
The problem I am running into is in compiling
qt and kde. First, I installed the RH qt1x-1.44
rpm and the devel rpm. I also installed the
RH qt-2.0.2 rpms.
I then decided to compile the qt source rpms and
optimize it for my system...but I can't. When
I try to compile qt1x-1.44.src.rpm, it dies saying
that no STL version could be determined. What
do I need to install/reinstall to make it possible
to determine that my system is SGI-like and has
a valid/functional STL version?
After messing with that for a while to no avail,
I decided to move on to getting a functional
kde installed. I have downloaded both kde-1.1.2
tarballs and, later, the RH kde src.rpms. In
both cases I am unable to compile any of the
elements of kde EVEN THOUGH I have the qt i386.rpms
installed for now. I get error messages about there
not being a qt >= 1.42 on my system. BULLCRAP!.
I have tried using "./configure --with-qt-dir=
/usr/lib/qt-1/44" and various versions of this,
like adding the switches for includes and libs.
Doesn't work, it still says qt>=1.42 not found.
I tried "export QTDIR=/usr/lib/qt-1.44" and then
configuring with and without the configure switches.
Failure. Failure. Failure.
I really want to put my fist thru the screen at this
point. Someone, anyone, please help me avoid
knuckle damage and throw me a line.
