Great news, but please Please PLEASE!!!! don't release it until it's
ready - even if that takes another year. If there's one type of mud that
really sticks in the software industry, it's that of software that
doesn't work properly. If you let users down, they never forget it.

MS has been stuck with this label for years. So have GNOME. I subscribe
to the GNOME lists (I like to follow what's going on) and there are
still grumblings on there that GNOME is still seen as buggy and
unreliable. Most GNOME people seem to think they have the problems
cleaned up, and after 50+ revisions to V1.0 they darn well should have,
but there's no doubt they have been tarred with a very sticky brush.

KDE's great benefit is that it works. It is a desktop which justifiably
sits on top of UNIX because it's reliable. If I hear someone say KDE-2.0
will be ready in time for such-and-such a show or event like GNOME
was(n't), I'll be very alarmed.

I'm sure I don't need to spell this out to the developers, but I will
anyway: We (the users) will wait patiently for as long as it takes to
get a stable KDE-2.0.
