I think the standard tools are vic (for video), rat (for audio), and
wb (whiteboard)..  We've been using them on redhat 6.0, 6.1, and 5.2
with a Hauppauge card and the standard bttv driver.  They work fine.

The best place to grab the software and documentation is probably
http://vrvs.cern.ch.  You may have to play around with the various
binaries until you find one that works on your system.  There seem to
be a lot of library issues.
