Hi All,
I'm not certain this is the right mailing list, but perhaps someone can assist.
I have just downloaded the files from the CVS tree (kde-xxx-19990823 etc). I
have downloaded QT ver 2.0.1, egcs1.1.2-19, binutils 2.9.1, autoconf 2.13,
glibc-2.1.1-6, cpp-1.1.2, libstdc++ 2.9.0-19 and mico-2.2.7 to upgrade my
Redhat 5.2 installation. All installed without too much difficulty (I had to run
make in each subdirectory of the mico source before running it in the root
otherwise I got an "error 137"). But I am still having a bit of trouble
compiling KDE.
On kdesupport I can only compile it if I run configure --with-odbc=no, and
kdelibs, make fails with the following:
/usr/include/unistd.h:662: declaration of C function `int gethostname(char
*, size_t)' conflicts with ../config.h:30: previous declaration `int
gethostname(char *, int)' here /usr/include/unistd.h:676: declaration of C
function `int getdomainname(char *, size_t)' conflicts with ../config.h:22:
previous declaration `int getdomainname(char *, int)' here kstddirs.cpp: In
method `class QString KStandardDirs::findResourceDir(const class QString &,
const class QString &) const': kstddirs.cpp:146: aggregate `struct stat buff'
has incomplete type and cannot be initialized kstddirs.cpp:151: confused by
earlier errors, bailing out make[2]: *** [kstddirs.lo] Error 1 make[2]:
Leaving directory `/usr/src/kde/kdelibs/kdecore' make[1]: *** [all-recursive]
Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/kde/kdelibs'
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2
I think it is probably just a case of upgrading some components, so if anyone
knows what the prerequisites are for KDE2.0, or can point me in the right
direction, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Ralph Pickering
