Subject: [OT]: trying to build MICO on Solaris2.6

Hi,
In an effort to get KDE2.0 snapshots running, I'm going through the
process of getting MICO installed.
I am using egcs to build it, but it was giving the unsatisifed symbol
error (?), which can be fixed by installing GNU binutils. I have built
these from scratch and installed them. I am now rebootstrapping egcs to
use GNU as and ld. In the stage1 compile I now get an error from the
assembler:
./xgcc -B./ -O2 -DIN_GCC -DSVR4 -g -I./include -fPIC -g1
-DIN_LIBGCC2 -D__GCC_FLOAT_NOT_NEEDED -fexceptions -I. -I. -I./config
-c -DL${name} \
./libgcc2.c -o ${name}.o; \
if [ $? -eq 0 ] ; then true; else exit 1; fi; \
ar rc tmplibgcc2.a ${name}.o; \
rm -f ${name}.o; \
done

/var/tmp/cc0XQqvo.s: Assembler messages:
/var/tmp/cc0XQqvo.s:189: Error: misaligned data
which seems to be coming from as. Maybe I have my configure options
wrong? I used:
./configure --prefix=/opt/egcs-1.0.3a --enable-shared --with-gnu-as
--with-gnu-ld
Also I hacked svr4.h to set the path to the binutils (MD_EXEC_PREFIX ?).
Is this the correct approach?
What am I missing?
TIA
