RH has installed the KDE rpms under /usr/share rather than /opt/kde. You
might try making a symlink form /opt/kde to /user/share, but I'm pretty sure
that the subdirectories aren't exactly mapped, so you'd probably end up
having to make several links.

Another solution would be to "upgrade" from the RH rpm files to the KDE rpm
files (rh5x). If you do this you will have to uninstall the RH ones. Make
sure you uninstall in the order: Everything else, kdebase, kdelibs,
kdesupport. RPM will complain about files required by switchdesk (if you
installed it). If you don't use it, ignore the warnings. If you use s.d.
to change the default X environment, you should note what files are needed
by switchdesk and later create symlinks to the equivalent files in the KDE
installation under /opt/kde. Finally re-install the KDE supplied RPMs
following KDE directions. The default location is /opt/kde, but this can be
respecified. This approach is more time intensive upfront, but should
enable you to more easily add apps in the future. If future versions of KDE
allow an upgrade path (via rpm), it will be easier to do with the KDE rpms.

		Subject:	Can't compile any KDE apps.

		I'm running RH 6.0 and KDE 1.1.1. KDE and QT 1.44
(including qt-devel) were
		installed from RPM's.

		I cannot compile any KDE apps and I get a different error
for each app.  For
		example:

		kfortune:
		/opt/kde/lib/libkimgio.so: undefined reference to
`png_set_strip_16'
		/opt/kde/lib/libkimgio.so: undefined reference to
`png_set_filler'
		/opt/kde/lib/libkimgio.so: undefined reference to
`png_create_read_struct'
		/opt/kde/lib/libkimgio.so: undefined reference to
`png_set_interlace_handling'
		/opt/kde/lib/libkimgio.so: undefined reference to
`TIFFReadRGBAImage'
		/opt/kde/lib/libkimgio.so: undefined reference to
`png_set_packing'
		... etc.

		kmysql:
		ServerTree.o: In function `ServerTree::saveTree(void)':
		/tmp/kmysql-1.1.2/kmysql/ServerTree.cpp:232: undefined
reference to `KTreeList::forEveryItem(bool (KTreeList::*)(KTreeList *,
KTreeListItem *, void *), void *)'
		ServerTree.o: In function `ServerTree::restoreTree(void)':
		/tmp/kmysql-1.1.2/kmysql/ServerTree.cpp:237: undefined
reference to `KTreeList::forEveryItem(bool (KTreeList::*)(KTreeList *,
KTreeListItem *, void *), void *)'

		kdesu:
		process.cpp: In method `char *
Root_process::create_script()':
		process.cpp:98: `errno' undeclared (first use this function)
		process.cpp:98: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only
once
		process.cpp:98: for each function it appears in.)
		process.cpp: In method `int Root_process::setup_tty(int)':
		process.cpp:282: confused by earlier errors, bailing out

		So, something is seriously wrong in the configuration. Can
anyone help?
