You still have a Unix-System, right?

Then use the Unix-command 
od   (for octal)
od -h (for hex)
od -d (for decimal values)

Without a filename, od takes standard-input (i.e keyboard-input, when you typed the
command to the keyboard-prompt)
Type one ore more characters and close the input with ^D (control-D)

(Maybe hou have to repeat ^D or use ^C to get back to the command-prompt,
but this behaviour is a bug (of KDE? I don't know))
