I remember you saying in an earlier message that you have an RH distribution.
If you don't already have a /etc/rc.d/rc.serial file, then just use your
favorite editor to create on, such as:

> > # set the third serial port 'COM3'
> > setserial /dev/cua2 irq 11 spd_vhi

> > # set the forth serial port 'COM4'
> > setserial /dev/cua3 irq 7 spd_vhi

This file is executed from the bottom of the /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit file.

Hope this helps. Btw this file should be chmod u+x as well..
