This has to do something with Unisys' LZW patent. GIF support is turned off
in QT-1.44 by default. Either use older QT, or recompile it with GIF support
turned on. However, I don't know if it's legal to do so. Search kde-devel
archives ( http://lists.kde.org ) for details, someone asked there the same
question few hours ago.
