i found out about this when i put 128 megs on a triton chipset board
with 512k of cache but insufficient tag sram. the slowdown was obvious
and painful. at that time, i don't believe anyone had come up with a
way to cache the lower 64 and let the upper 64 go it alone, and i can
see where this might be difficult. it was sufficiently disappointing to
cause a mb upgrade.
