After reading your suggestions, I promptly recompiled both Qt and KDE 1.1
(dist) to compare the differences. I found that the new binaries ran
noticably faster, and KFM loaded several seconds faster. I did not take
the time to observe the differences in executable size. BTW, thanks for
the suggestions :-) I run meminfo to give me warning of when people arae
connected to the quake server, and noticed a several-megabyte ram usage
drop.
I'd like to see an addition to the configure script that would add
"-fno-exceptions" to the CXXFLAGS if it detects a recent version of GCC.
No harm would be done, and perhaps people would stop complaining that it
ran slowly :-)
