Read carefully the help file with kppp. It will help you to solve that.

The thing I always forget is to (first make a copy) make the /etc/ppp/options
file exist, but be empty.

Easy way: cp /etc/ppp/options /etc/ppp/options.old ; > /etc/ppp/options
