Which mail program and what aspects of its interface are improvements
over MS Outlook? I
ask this from pure ignorance because the only GUI based mail programs
I've used are Eudora,
Netscape (eck!), and MS Outlook. I would like to know so I can
incorporate such features into
this Korganizer + Kmail program (if its feasible) and my current GPLed
Outlook clone which
I am writing in Delphi. I just started this Delphi project this weekend
and have most of the main
forms interface cloned. I've got a few people interested in working on
it already.

Specifically the tree control in Outlook (forget about the Outlook bar)
provides the best interface
to all of your data. Combine that with the ability to create folders
and then share them with co-workers
makes for a convient virtual email/calendar/contacts file system.

As a sysadmin who regularly installs Exchange Server I don't have many
problems with how it
looks. (Perhaps you are referring to the worthless default client
program.) There are problems with how the
server acts. Features like POP3 or the distributions lists just stop
working and you have to do a complete
re-install. But I have no intention of duplicating all of those
features, all I want is a database with
security features for multi-user purposes in which I can store mail,
calendar, contacts, and documents.

Which database would best serve my purposes? The ODBC drivers for
Postgres seem to be behind those
of MySQL.
