This is a very roundabout way of doing it for bash.  You can do it
with bash directly in your prompt with the following: (note, nothing
was overloaded, cd wasn't changed, no functions were required, just a
simple setting for PS1)

	export  PS1='\h:\$ \[\033]0;\h:\w\007\]'
