Oh no. Never, never change your system for compiling an application.
Sometimes it's needed to change it to run it (/etc/ld.. for example),
but never for compiling it.

kzip is a badly created distribution, that needs some corrections.
I have included kzip in kdeutils, there should it compile, but un-
fortunatly the snapshots are not created today ;(
