Guys, reports like that are USELESS. At a minimum I need to know

a) which version of kscd are you trying to get to work
b) what error messages do you get, or what happens at the
   commandline when you start it.

My cristall ball is not working all that well these days you know ...

Furthermore consider:

c) an strace 
d) a gdb backtrace.

FYI, I have RedHat 5.0 installed and I am developing under RedHat 5.0.
Kscd works fine -- I suggest you try harder.
