I've seen your thread on kde-linux and it looks like something could b= e=20 wrong with the 3.5.8 packages of Debian, though I haven't seen any complain= s=20 on the debian-kde list. If I remember correctly the "echo debugging" you did in startkde indicates= =20 that it hangs at starting ksmserver. Unfortunately this does quite a lot, e.g. starting infrastructure services= =20 (knotify, kded), autostart handling, session restoring, etc. Can you try modifying startkde so it starts ksmserver directly (without=20 kwrapper), i.e. just ksmserver $KDEWM If it still hangs you could try something like strace ksmserver $KDEWM 2> /tmp/ksmserver-strace Cheers, Kevin =2D-=20 Kevin Krammer, KDE developer, xdg-utils developer KDE user support, developer mentoring --nextPart4693155.aKbhRTrW0g Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQBHQULgnKMhG6pzZJIRAo2fAJwN6oWYxOk+7X3+tBW7SnGMKACQZQCePFe6 yqpT2pq1XWWPmOQPPVoIzLg= =gXDL -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --nextPart4693155.aKbhRTrW0g-- --===============1216679242== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline ___________________________________________________ This message is from the kde mailing list.
