Ryujin,

I seem to recall getting AIM to work. I'm at home now, but when I get back to
school next week I'll let you know what protocols work. Have you had any
success using any applications besides Kopete with socks? Does Konqueror
work?

My /etc/dante.conf (/etc/socks.conf on most systems) looks like this:

route {
       from: 0.0.0.0/0   to: 0.0.0.0/0   via: 127.0.0.1 port = 1080
       proxyprotocol: socks_v4
}

Basically route everything through the proxy. The socks server is on
localhost because I'm using SSH's socks proxy option as a poor mans VPN, like
so:

ssh -N -D 1080 user@host

but you should be able to replace 127.0.0.1 with your socks server's IP. Hope
that helps and I'll write back when I return to school and can run some
tests.
