The program 'cron' runs programs at regular times. For intermittently operated systems i.e. those not running 24/7, the program 'anacron' serves the same purpose. To the best of my knowledge both SuSE and RedHat have program that clears files older than a fixed time from the /tmp directory. In my SuSE 8.0 the program is 'suse.de-clean-tmp'. Make certain that cron/anacron is running as a daemon and that the clean-up program is in '/etc/cron.daily' directory and, in the case of SuSE 8.0 the parameters are correctly set in /etc/sysconfig/cron Hope this helps Basil Fowler On Wednesday 16 Oct 2002 18:40, Andy Firman wrote: > On Wednesday 16 October 2002 09:51, hasanen wrote: > > try to clean /tmp directory before loging in to KDE > > Thank you Hasanen!
