Last time I checked KDE was about creating a good (the best) Unix desktop 
environment. Quoting www.kde.org: "...KDE is a powerful Open Source 
graphical desktop environment for Unix workstations..."
Last time I checked Micorsoft had 0% market share on Unix desktops.
