if the reply doesn't have much unique content i just summarize it (w/credit to
the author) w/out actually quoting it. if there is something unique, i'll
often quote just the original parts saying something like "in response to
<whatever it was in specific> so-and-so said" ... with a bit of creative
piecing-together / summarization you can usually make it work...
i do agree that those emails are the most annoying though =)
