Let me try this again: $1 is the first parameter to the function do_find_jar().

When you pass `ant/noexist' into do_find_jar(), it recives `ant' as the
parameter instead. So, from its persepective it is behaving correctly.

Somehow, passing `ant/noexist' as an argument is mangling the argument string,
so we either have to fix this, or the check must be done before it even enters
the do_find_jar() function.

But as I said, do_find_jar() seems to be behaving correctly and just receiving
the wrong parameter (a directory in this case). Can someone verify this?
