I guess I'm not understanding the issue.  There are two ways to get a
JPackage JDK environment onto your system.  The first is to download
the appropriate source file (for the Sun case the self-extracting
.bin) and rebuild our java-version-vendor-release.nosrc.rpm
(java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.09-1jpp.nosrc.rpm).  The second is described in
detail here:
    http://www.jpackage.org/installation.php
So yes, the -compat package requires the Sun RPM, which is what
"Missing Dependency: jdk = 2000:1.5.0_09-fcs" is referring to.
