Any of the java-1.X.Y-vendor-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.nosrc.rpm, when built, produces up to the following packages:

java-1.X.Y-vendor-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm
java-1.X.Y-vendor-alsa-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm
(java-1.X.Y-vendor-console-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm)
java-1.X.Y-vendor-demo-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm
java-1.X.Y-vendor-devel-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm
java-1.X.Y-vendor-fonts-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm
java-1.X.Y-vendor-jdbc-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm
java-1.X.Y-vendor-src-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm

The first of these packages is the JRE, i.e. java-1.X.Y-vendor-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm.
The JDK add-on is java-1.X.Y-vendor-devel-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm and obviously requires the JRE.
On server environments, I usually do install
java-1.X.Y-vendor-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm
java-1.X.Y-vendor-devel-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm
java-1.X.Y-vendor-fonts-1.X.Y.Z-Rjpp.i?86.rpm

On a workstation/client environment, your may want to install -alsa or not.
It has been packaged separately in order to isolate the JRE/JDK from the sound lib requirements.
You may need -demo or not.
You may be insterested in -src or not.
And -jdbc is perhaps a misnaming (for historical reasons): it contains the jdbc-odbc bridge and
is packaged separately for isolation reasons, just like with -alsa.

In summary: download the "real" JDK, build them all, and then install the first of the resulting
packages if you want JRE only.

Betreff: [JPackage-discuss] JRE anyone?

Has anyone created JRE RPM that they have not bragged about yet? ;-) I
know there is a JDK package, but since most servers now do not require
JDK to run, I would prefer to stick with JRE, but have an RPM to work
with.

TIA,

Ed
