Hi,
I'm not in the JMeter-development, but wouldn't the easiest be to just
extend the Assertion Reporter class and contain a File Reporter in the new
class?

/Klas

Subject: Am writing an Assertion File Reporter

Hi all,

I am in the process of adding some functionality, around assertions, to
JMeter. Should they be successful I intend to submit my source code the
group for review and possible inclusion in the project.

At this time my primary goal is to create a reporter that will write failed
assertions and the actual text of the SampleResult to a file. As a thread
may contain many assertions I would like this reporter to create a file for
each assertion being tested. Therefore if I have two assertions for an HTTP
Request, one called "ProfileAssertion" and another called
"SelectFlightsAssertion" and they both fail, two files will be created and
each will contain details on the failure ( as currently reported in the
AssertionReporter ) as well as the text of the SampleResult.

To keep it simple I initially intend to write these files into the default
temporary-file directory as per java.io.File.createTempFile(....) methods.
Later I may give the user the ability to select a directory for the files to
be written too.

I started to poke around in the code and am starting to get a an idea of how
the bits and pieces fit together but not to the level that you seasoned
developers have. So if you have a moment and would like point me down a
specific path i.e. "Use the org.apache.jmeter.reporters.Filer class" feel
free to do so.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Alastair Handley.

P.S. Once I have developed something useful who should I send it to? I
assume that it is this list but I don't like to assume anything as
"Assumption is the mother of all errors".
