Subject:    Portlet links in one column to populate a portlet in a different

I have three columns of portlets defined in a tab pane (25%, 50%, 25%).

I am trying to create a portlet in the left most column (25%) to contain
links.  I want these links <a href=""></a> to populate the middle column
(50%) with the appropriate portlet.  Is it possible to have a link in a
portlet, populate the middle column of the same pane with a different
portlet?
