Sure, no problem with waiting.

The icons only are applied to ant, maven, and tld files, and you have to
have the modes installed for them.  In fact, now that I think about it, my
changes won't be visible to anyone unless they are using the 4.4preX
versions, which is where the ant, maven, and tld modes were added.

I'll check on the panel visibility issue.  I haven't noticed it myself.
