Interesting, only on Friday, I used the ant task for wscompile with the mapping attribute on jwsdp1.6  Here is the task I used:

  |                nonclassdir="${gen.dir}"
  |                base="${gen.build.dir}"
  |                features="@{wsdlstyle}"
  |                server="@{genserver}"
  |                client="@{genclient}"
  |                config="@{config}"
  |                mapping="@{mapping}"

  |                keep="true">
  |                <classpath>
  |                        <path refid="jwsdp.class.path" />
  |                        <path refid="build.classpath" />
  |                </classpath>
  |      </wscompile>
