Japplers,

It has been a busy summer and we have much to report.

Japple 2.1.3 has been released!
This release incorporates all bug fixes on the 2.0.5.x branch as well as
introduces many new features and enhancements.

Here are just a few of the new features:
* Added support for non-html templates (i.e. XML, WML, etc...)
* Added support for an autotemplate handler
* Enhanced SOAP interface to support HTTPS protocol
* Added support for the sequence element in Japple XML Schemas
* Added ability to reinitialize sections of the ServerConfiguration
    (japple.xml) via a Service
* New japple.common jmos (javascript) for enhanced client behavior
* Improved japple.xml format

For all the changes please see the RELEASE.NOTES:
http://www.japple.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/japple/RELEASE.NOTES?rev=1.20&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup

Japple 2.1.x is compatible with Japple 2.0.x applications. However,
many of the new features (i.e., XML Templates) are only exposed in the
newest JappleIDE. Folks are recommend to upgrade to the new version to
take advantage of bug fixes and performance enhancements.

NEW JappleIDE 3.x
The JappleIDE is sporting a new Project Tree interface for easier access
to JMOs (nice job Mark!) and a much improved Application Wizard. All
installed apps now appear in a select box, so you simply select the app
you want to add.
* New Project Tree Interface
* Improved Application Wizard
* Tighter CVS intergration - commit, add, delete, update, status from
within the IDE

NEW WML/WAP examples have been added to the Japple Tutorial
Application (tutorial.war). WAPDishList and WAPDishListEdit illustrate
how to create multi-model applications using Japple. These WAP/WML
pages provide wireless access to the same data and functionality as the
HTML version. Kudos to John Russo for these additions.

NEW Form Validations section added to the Japple Tutorial and
tutorial.war.  <http://www.japple.org/tutorial/>.  This tutorial adds
client-side validations to the DishEdit page using Japple Schemas, the
SetSchemaService and the ValidationRuleGenerator.

NEW Japple-CVS mailing list added.

This list is for folks who want to closely track and participate in the
development of Japple. Each and every commit to the Japple CVS tree
appears on this list.

That's all for now.

later.
