The "weird" error simply indicates that you don't have jakarta-oro.jar on your
classpath which is called upon when running the listFiles() method.  Get this
jar onto your classpath and see what results.

It would appear to me that you certainly do have your firewalls disabled.  I am
waiting to see what suggestions Daniel Savarese (see comment 25) may have since
he suspects an IP v.6 cause.  I think his diagnosis is likely, but I have no
real knowledge.  Is it possible to turn IP6 support off when executing programs
or do you have to build a kernel with it disabled?  If you can turn it off
without too much trouble, this might provide useful diagnostic information.
