This may very well be true... in certain environments.

Please keep in mind when suggesting ejabberd that one can't even compile
erlang (required by ejabberd) on *BSD amd64 because of floating point
exceptions (erlang hasn't been ported to amd64 on any BSD yet).  Erlang
also needs patching to compile on x86 OpenBSD (and possibly NetBSD--
don't know).  

I know this particular thread dealt with a debian user, but I see
ejabberd recommended a lot, and thought I'd point out it doesn't work
for everybody (yet).
