You need dlcompat to be installed.  The easiest thing to do is to grab 
it from the Fink project.

http://fink.sourceforge.net/pdb/package.php/dlcompat

After that is installed, try make clean in the top level directory and 
then do a make in jabberd/pth-1.4.0.  Then you should be able to do a 
successful make in the top level directory.
