Hi,

I have a problem with jabberd 1.4 & the IRC transport.

I'm fairly new to Jabber (I installed jabberd 1.2 & got it working but
thats about it).
I'm unable to connect my client to conference.jabber.org to ask
questions in jdev
& there appears to be nothing relevent in the archive of the jadmin
list.

Please copy any replies to me at ivor.davies@peramon.com
<mailto:ivor.davies@peramon.com>

PROBLEM

My client is WinJab (0.9.3.5).
My server is called test8.peramon.com. Its
Red Hat Linux release 6.2 (Zoot)
 Kernel 2.2.14-5.0 on an i586

My IRC server runs on endjinn.peramon.com

I've downloaded & built & installed jabberd 1.4. This worked fine.

I've downloaded the irc-transport-0.1b-1.40. I eventually got
this built against the 1.4 jabberd.

Attached to this mail is the jabber.xml; ammendments to add the IRC
transport marked with "<!-- IRC -->".

I start jabberd:
[root@test8 jabber]# ./jabberd/jabberd -D -h test8.peramon.com

>From WinJab I connect to it fine.
The "IRC Transport" is an option on the Agents menu.
I select "IRC Transport" & the Agent Properties dialog appears.

The Agent Properties dialog's Registration tab announces 'Waiting for
agent instructions'
& has no labels for entering any other fields, & the Join Grp, Register
& Delete buttons are greyed-out. This dialog is not updated; it remains
in this state (Ie unusable)/

The server sends a message on pulling down the Agents menu:
ERROR Server Error! Not Implemented.

The server output is also attached to this mail.

Question 1: what is the problem here? Is it a configuration problem?

Question 2: what do I have to setup so that I can use WinJab to
communicate
with a IRC channel on endjinn.peramon.com.

Many thanks for any help

Ivor Davies.
