British man penetrated into UAE System

A Reuters report today said a British man is in custody under
suspicion for penetrating into the United Arab Emirates Internet
system (this looks blurry, we are trying to find an appropriate URL to
expand what really happened). He faces charges of damaging the
country's economy, according to local newspaper reports today.
Reuters said the 26-year-old man, a senior computer engineer in Dubai,
was arrested last week after being traced by Emirates
Telecommunications Corp.


Update on Etisalat penetration

A man arrested for allegedly hacking into Emirates Telecommunications
Corp's (Etisalat) Internet service fears he is being made a scapegoat
by the telecommunications giant for the disruptions which affected
thousands of computer users in the past two weeks.

service Etisalat, has filed a defamation suit in Dubai against them.

Ashurst files case against Etisalat

"We filed a civil suit against Etisalat to urge them to submit a copy
of their records of the alleged sabotage to court. They are still
withholding whatever evidence they have," Lee Ashurst's lawyer Habib
al-Mulla told the press.

Etisalat to host conference about hacking

Emirates Telecommunications Corp (Etisalat) will stage a top-level
conference starting on Saturday on ways to deter hackers. The
conference, which will be held at the Etisalat Academy in Dubai, would
attract a large number of judges, police officers, database
administrators, network managers and IT security specialists. Just to
note that 4 months ago, Lee Ashurst was arrested for allegedly hacking
into Etisalat servers.
