I try to have ipfilter 3.4.16 installed on my FreeBSD 4.1 following the instruction \
in INSTALL.FreeBSD, but I am stuck with "build a new kernel".
These is the steps I did:
1. do "make freebsd4" ---- OK
2. do "make install-bsd" ----OK
3. run "FreeBSD/minstall" as root
This is output:
Patching ip_input.c, i_output.c and in_proto.c
Hmm.. Looks like a new-style context diff to me...
the text leading up to this was:
-------------------------------------------
> *** /sys/netinet/ip_input.c.orig
> --- /sys/netinet/ip_input.c

Patching file ip_input.c using Plan A...

Hunk #2 failed at 223.
Hunk #3 succeeded at 796 with fuzz 2 (offset 526 lines).
Hunk #4 failed at 1059.
Hunk #5 failed t 1068.
4 out or 5 hunks failed --saving rejects to ip_input.c.rej
hmm.. The next patch looks like a new-style context diff to me...
the text leadin gup to this was:

done.
Kernel configuration to update [LINT] Re-config'ing LINT ...
You will now need to run "config" and build a new kernel.
----- What has I missed out, and how could I overcome these?
4. build a new kernel
When I run "config", it prompts with
#config
usage: config [-gpr] [-d destdir] sysname
what should I put for sysname? and destdir?
I am very new to ipfilter. Could someone please point me to the place for HOW-TO \
install information? or how do I fix the install problem?
Thanks a million in advance.
