Dave,

As I suspected your modem is changing it's id number. This is caused by a
bug in the 1.2 beta 1 driver, there's not a lot you can do about this if
your using the 330, hopefully it will be fixed in a later version of the
speedtouch driver.

You will usually find that the connection drops during a period of high cpu
usage and while uploading heavily, like running some p2p file sharing
programs, ie emule, edonkey etc. Also if you have a machine on the DMZ
copying large files backwards and forwards between orange and green will
also make the connection drop while uploading heavily. If you are running
p2p software, try limiting the upload speed, you may find this helps.

I notice your already using the modified rc.alcatelusb file, this should
help to get you re-connected again when the connection drops. Sorry I can't
offer a better fix than this.

Regards

Nick

Switched to that. No differnce, connection will stay up overnight with only
occasional traffic. This morning lost connection three or four times in an
hour. This happens with IP-COP but not if the I plug the modem into an XP
machine. Have also discovered that if I use Smoothwall GPL1 also suffers
dropped connections UNTIL I increase the lcp-echo-interval and
lcp-echo-failure paramaters, then it is fine.

How much do you need? Do these bits help?

Thanks, Dave
