so I'm gathering that I always have to delete the overview databases
before running

bash$ bin/makehistory -b -f history.n -O -l 30000 -I

Will switching to a different overview method help?

Is the fact that all article storage and overview as well is
on the same RAID set causing problems? if I gave overview its
own JBOD spindle (if there was a failure it would have to
get deleted anyway) would that help?
