Did you compile from source or use RPMS? I would recommend RPMS. You can
get some Redhat RPMS from: http://home.teleport.ch/simix/
I have successfully installed them on Redhat 7.2 and 7.3

BTW, I get that same descriptor error on my redhat 7.2 system and it does
not affect any of the ports. IMAP works fine, pop3 doesn't, but I broke
that myself. :) I don't think that error is the cause of your problem, I
may be wrong though. Let me know if you figure out how to get rid of that
descriptor error though! :)
