I can't speak about the MySQL or web-cyradm specifics,
but many of us who wish to do virtual hosting of domains
on a single IP address have adopted the "email address
as user ID" approach.

Also, Ken Murchison is currently taking on the task
of making it so that this will work whether or not
you've turned on the unixheirsep feature (ordinarily
the '.' in domain.dom messes with the folder structure
for creating a user.username@domain.dom userid).
So if you can wait a bit on it, integrated support
for this is on its way, otherwise turn on the
unixheirsep optin and use "username@domain.dom" for
your userids.
