Anyone remembers the bizarre problem I had last week with the Telco, where
my leased line went down and I had trouble convincing them it was their
end...

It turned out to be the serial port itself (in a Cisco 7500). Since they
switched us to a new port, it's been working fine for a few days. Now today,
it went again - same symptoms. They changed to ANOTHER port, it's working
again. Obviously, they're not going to last long if they blow up a port a
week...

Has anyone seen *anything* like this before? I'm dumbfounded... if it was
the modem spiking the port, surely it wouldn't last for days before there's
a problem? It's unlikely to be the line spiking the modem, it ran for
several weeks on an ASM20 before we upgraded and this has only happened
since the ASM50's were installed...

Everything points to the modem, I guess... I just don't understand how it
can go back to working again on a new port, or what it could possibly be
doing to the ports it's ( or appears to have) blown up...

Regards

Bob
