Please follow up these problems with Raymond and myself in private email, and
not clog up the entire IMAP mailing list.

There are a few things that you need to do in order to get your problem
resolved quickly. Otherwise, you'll end up wasting a lot of time and causing
yourself considerable frustration.

As matters stand, I haven't a clue whether this is Outlook misbehavior, imapd
misbehavior, a system problem, or user error.

We need a clear and precise statement of the problem. "Everything
disappeared" is not such a statement. "The message browser shows no messages
in the folder", or "the folder browser shows no folders" is better. It is
also of *crucial* importance that you state the EXACT text of any error
messages without paraphrase or abbreviation.

When you say "IMAP is not loading all headers within their primary
/var/mail/<username>" that is better, but still not completely useful. Do you
see some messages but not others?  Please don't try to diagnose the problem;
instead, try to explain the symptoms -- what do you see, and what did you
expect to see?

It would help if you can do some problem isolation. A good test is to try
using Pine to access the data for an affected user.

You say that "Both IMAP and POP3 works just fine for me"; what is different
about you (and other unaffected users) compared to affected users?

Do you get any error messages? Do you get any unusual syslog messages in the
mail syslog from imapd or ipop3d logged in as an affected user?

Before you go off on further resetting passwords and restoring, help us try to
understand what, precisely, is wrong and work out a strategy for you to fix
it. Grasping at straws probably won't help fix it, and may make matters
worse.
