What I see is slightly different:

c-client default "clearbox" model server of today:
	"" maps to home directory
leading ~ works as with filesystem
leading / works as with filesystem
	#news. has newsgroups
	#shared/ has shared folders
#public/ has public (anonymous OK) folders

c-client "blackbox" model server of today:
"" maps to configurable mail store
leading / is escape for other users.
	#news. has newsgroups
	#shared/ has shared folders
#public/ has public (anonymous OK) folders

c-client clearbox server of tomorrow:
	#personal/ maps to ""
"" maps to configurable mail store
leading ~ works as with filesystem
leading / works as with filesystem
	#file maps to home directory
	#news. has newsgroups
	#shared/ has shared folders
#public/ has public (anonymous OK) folders

c-client blackbox server of tommorrow:
	#personal/ maps to ""
"" maps to configurable mail store
leading / is escape for other users.
	#file is not permitted
	#news. has newsgroups
	#shared/ has shared folders
#public/ has public (anonymous OK) folders
