Catch hold of a local expert or a friend who has linux
experience. Don't lose money over sat, sunday classes.

Try to get someone who can help you thro' the install
and teach you the basics. After that you can learn on
your own. Don't get befooled by jazzy ads behind town
buses and posters on lamp posts. 9 out of 10 of such
are commercial with very little technical focus. 

That said if you are zero then it certainly helps to
get started albeit with errors if these courses cost
only a couple thousand bucks. :-)
