hi

Thank u so much for the help.and i got the cd's for the installation.

well when i list, it gives me

[root@localhost root]# ls /usr/src
redhat
but from the site,

http://www.linuxdocs.org/HOWTOs/Kernel-HOWTO-4.html.its given as

"Log in as or su to `root', and cd to /usr/src. If you installed kernel source when \
you first installed linux (as most do), there will already be a directory called \
`linux' there, which contains the entire old source tree. If you have the disk space \
and you want to play it safe, preserve that directory". so thats y yesterday i had a \
doubt regd the location of linux DIR.

for the kernel query i get this

[root@localhost root]# rpm -q kernel
kernel-2.4.22-1.2115.nptl

so what could be the problem.and how do i do it?

vaishnavi
