This is what I have in my lilo.conf file to have a dual boot Linux
machine (Debian and RedHat):

image=/bzImage2420
	label="Debian"
	append="hdc=ide-scsi hdd=ide-scsi"
	read-only
	root=/dev/hda1
	initrd=/boot/initrd.img-2.4.20-386

image=/mnt/b6/boot/vmlinuz
	label="rh8"
	append="hdc=ide-scsi hdd=ide-scsi"
	read-only
	root=/dev/hdb6
	initrd=/mnt/b6/boot/initrd-2.4.18-14.img

It works just fine for me
