Simple guidelines:

1. When you need to pass $(MAKEDIR), pass $(MAKEDIR)$(ProjectDir) instead
(only one of them is defined under each environment).

2. In custom build steps for the project, use $(TargetPath) instead of
$(InputPath) to refer to the target.

3. Don't use unitialized variables. Pretty much valid for everything.
